Sacred Ceremonies for many occasions
Many significant life events can be honoured with rituals and ceremonies, including namings, moving job, moving home, coming of age, significant birthdays and anniversaries.
Namings
The birth or adoption of a child into a family is an opportunity to honour the lineage, the ancestors that have led to this point. Particularly if the family is of same sex parents, mixed race or traditions, a naming ceremony can be a beautiful time to acknowledge the whole family, including rituals from different cultures to celebrate the arrival of a new member of the tribe. This is also a good time to welcome step-children into a new family accompanying a marriage.
A naming ceremony can be carried out at your home or at any place of your choice, indoors or in a beautiful space in nature. If you wish we can call in the elements and the spirits of the land. You may want to invite friends and family to give readings or sing or give a blessing to the child.
One option is to include a Quaich, also known as a loving cup. It is a small pewter or silver dish with two handles and is usually engraved with the name of the child and either the date of the ceremony or their date of birth. In a naming ceremony the parents would jointly drink a toast to their child.
Another option is to include an earth offering (despacho) and fire and all those present can place a gift from nature with their blessings for the child into the despacho which is then burned, sending the blessings for the child of all those present into the cosmos using the power of the fire and asking that the child may live in ayni - right relationship - with the family, themselves and the planet.
Moving house or country
When you are about to make a significant move in your life to a new home or even a new country, you may well want to clear the new space of any negative energies and honour the land and its ancestors as you move there.
